Interesting synchronicity that Joanna Lumley was finishing her Greek Odyssey on our screens as a Greek drama unfolded on the Eurozone scene, in the crescendo of the week. In the final programme of the series, Joanna was told that the series would be successful by an elderly Greek lady who was reading her coffee grounds. Unfortunately, she did not pronounce on the future of the Euro. The same evening Nicolas Sarkozy was telling the G20 summit “We cannot accept the explosion of the euro, which would mean the explosion of Europe” at the same time as George Papandreou of Greece had threatened a referendum, which he later described as a shock tactic, saying he didn’t mean it really… George Papandreou the Prime Minister of Greece has Mercury (his mental equipment) at 4 degrees Cancer, which squares the Pluto of the natal chart of Greece (bringing mental strain to his natal equipment). The current square of Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn form a T-square with his natal Mercury, increasing that mental strain to the hilt. Some questioned his mental state in engineering the brinkmanship brought about by his announcement of a referendum, and political positions are still being worked out in Greece now. Meanwhile, almost at the heart and helm of the Euro crisis (Angela Merkel being the heart and helm) according to the Astrology, Nicolas Sarkozy has an instinctive understanding of the European Union (and therefore has easily built up an image of how his role should be within it). His Mercury is sextile the European Union Mercury (giving him a facility with ideas related to it, business and economic issues within it, and communication channels). His Neptune is also conjunct the European Union Jupiter, so there is almost a sense of religiosity in the way he feels about the European Union and its potential. His Jupiter squares the Euro (as distinct from the European Union) Nodal Axis, so he has a karmic role to play at this time, and one of keeping up its profile in some way. His Pluto trines its Jupiter, so he is totally involved in trying to make it work. His Neptune squares its Uranus however, so his own illusions may complicate its destiny further. But there is no doubting his commitment, in saying: “The euro is at the heart of Europe”. I took a break from all this yesterday, and had a great time at the Brian Weiss workshop in London yesterday. Brian Weiss is the most popular of past-life therapists and author of such classics as “Many Lives, Many Masters” and “Same Soul, Many Bodies”, and I booked my place months ago. Apparently the event was an almost instant sell-out. People came from all over the world (except for the U.S.) to see this psychiatrist from Florida. They came from places as far flung as Trinidad and Portugal, bringing translated editions from exotic locations such as Iran and Malta. Dr. Weiss has the slowest speaking voice I have ever heard, as befits someone who has been doing past life therapy for 30 years. He has a GSOH, in fact an acutely and unusually teasing sense of humour that doesn’t come across in his books! I wonder how that persona comes out from his birthchart…We do not have a birthtime and so cannot divine his Ascendant and Midheaven, which often contribute to the persona. He is a Scorpio, which is the sign of Psychiatry, and in fact it’s his birthday today. The humour may be linked with his Jupiter being exactly sextile his North Node, which has given him a karmic grace in his work and mission. I spent most of the day pleasantly semi-comatose (he gave 4 meditations – tremendous value!), surfacing occasionally to make notes. I don’t know how it was for the rest of the 900-strong audience. That might just have been my pattern because, not comparing the two in any intrinsic sense, I admit to always falling asleep whenever I have been in the presence of the Dalai Lama. A few years ago, my hubby complained that I was meditating too much, but I have got it down to once a day now. Enough about me, let’s look at the aspects for the week ahead. Today is a good day for tying up small but important loose ends, with the minor aspects of Mercury/Venus semi-sextile Pluto. It is another week with a dominant theme by Neptune, as tomorrow we face an opposition between Mars and Neptune. Whereas last week’s Neptune issues were emotional and mental confusion, tomorrow’s opposition could bring instinctual confusion. Well if your instincts are currently wading on shifting sands, what can you trust? You can go to a higher level, to your intuition (via meditation, but don’t overdo it like me). The work you do on this will pay off by Wednesday (9th) because Neptune is stationary prior to turning direct (what a relief) and you will be able to see that a spade will look like a spade. It always was a spade, but you had your doubts, lately. A Full Moon in Taurus on Thursday (10th) adds some more earthiness and practicality to your outlook, but not everyone finds the Full Moon energy easy, and it has to be balanced with the intensely searching Sun in Scorpio. So if you are immersed in gardening, some part of you still has to engage with the angst going on in the world or in your personal affairs. The same day Chiron (which has been travelling with Neptune in recent years) also turns stationary prior to direct, which benefits healing efforts, healing projects, and uncovering the associated mental causations, which may or may not be derived from the past. And on Friday (11:11:11) Mars means business, leaving its performance-based urges in Leo, for the quieter conscientious working mode of Virgo. We’ll be knuckling down to some real work schedules, and health and safety projects. Many of us will be earth healing, or marking the impressive numerology of the day in some way. The week ends on Saturday (12th) with an opposition between Mars and Chiron: energies could be awkward that day, and there may be minor healing crises or opportunities to put into practice what we have learned this week or recently. What were your learnings, and how can you apply them? I have learned about synchronicity, and moderation in meditation, and deepened my interest in the scope of the human mind.

The week in bullet points:

Today – housekeeping

Tomorrow – examining your own Achilles heel

Wednesday – spiritual reorientation

Thursday – balancing; healing initiatives

Friday – interesting numerology; getting down to things

Saturday – the square peg in the round hole

I have been fascinated by the concept of Future Lives for over twenty years, and as I am about to go on a new adventure of discovery in that regard, I feel now is the time to review my journey so far.

When I first came to Astrology in 1970, I felt that it was a tool for creating your own future, and it slotted in with my idea that we create our own lives. That is a commonplace new age idiom now, but at the time it emerged for me as I learned to work with Astrology.

Helen Wambach (1925-1986) was the first person I heard of in connection with future lives. She was an American hypnotherapist who tended to work in large groups, and assess the data statistically. She worked with past lives, and then wrote a groundbreaking book “Life Before Lives” about our preparation for coming into incarnation. This work preceded that of Michael Newton who specializes in life between lives, which he calls spiritual regression, but that is another subject. What would characterize the chart of one who works in this area? I have not looked into this, but Helen has a close conjunction of the Sun, Neptune and her Ascendant, with several planets in Leo. I have a much dog-eared copy of “Life Before Life” which I read several times in 1979 and several times since. What was enthralling about this book was about the scope of the choices we make before we come into incarnation.

She did not actually write a book of Future Lives, that task being left to her successor Chet Snow who met and worked with her shortly before she died, and was the author of an equally groundbreaking work “Mass Dreams of the Future”. I casually selected this one from a bookstore in 1991, not knowing what I was opening up to. I had read about future earth changes in books by Ruth Montgomery, but the visions which Chet Snow had produced while working on his future with Helen Wambach were graphic and terrifying, apocalyptic views of 1998. This work opened up many areas of work in connection with earth healing for Chet Snow, who told that he had undertaken this task as a result of having done the opposite in Atlantis – he had denied there were problems when he could have helped people to see what was going on at the time. He now lives in Arizona, where he saw himself from the mid-1980s looking at 1998. You might find all this time-hopping confusing, or alternatively enjoyable as I do. That the specific earth changes he foresaw did not happen in 1998 he sees in terms of the spiritual work done by people like him. He also put out a video a few years ago saying that there had been a reprieve, and hinting that the end of the Mayan calendar (circa 2012) would be a marker for such changes. Please note, I am not wishing to fan the flames of conjecture of what would or would not happen at that time. Suffice it to say that Chet Snow woke me up to what we need to do now in terms of looking after planetary resources, though I still feel I am lagging behind what is needed.

In his statistics of groups he has taken through mass future progression, Chet identified 4 possible human groupings in different social environments, possibly co-existing:

Space Stations

Small New-Age style communities

Hi-Tech Cities

Simple rural lives in isolated villages

(you choose)

Chet has a much more sober karmic mission from his chart than Helen, with the North Node conjunct his Sun and Saturn, showing a serious responsibility.

We (my friends and I) did follow the trail of Chet for a few years, using his future life tape, and attending a couple of his workshops. In one of my future life scenarios, I was a grandmother in a crater in Germany, looking sprightly, in the company of some of my present-life friends. In this lifetime I am currently enjoying grandmotherhood, but am not as sprightly as I could be, so perhaps I will make progress next time round. Certainly, the experience of becoming a grandmother has opened up my future vision.

In 1993 we were treated to a TV documentary and book tie-in (“Yesterday’s Children”) of the story of Jenny Cockell who died as Mary Sutton in Ireland in 1932, leaving behind several children. In her present incarnation (as a Cancerian) she had recurring dreams about these children she had left suddenly through ill health, and eventually traced them and met them. She wrote subsequent books “Past Lives, Future Lives” (1996) and “Journeys through Time” (2008) detailing her efforts to trace her future lives, which make fascinating reading. I did write to her and obtained her birth time, which showed interesting correlations between the life of Mary Sutton and Jenny Cockell. Subsequently I went to a lecture she gave, and introduced myself.

Brian Weiss, an American psychiatrist, has produced a number of enthralling books on the subject of past life regression, such as “Only Love is Real” describing various cases in his practice, and what can be learned about life through them. In 2004 he published a book of Future Life therapy entitled “Same Soul, Many Bodies”. He developed a method of surveying the results of present choices through three possible future paths, which seems to have been very effective. Often one path stands out as being brighter than the rest, but depends on present negativity being worked through. Of the glimpses into the future which are shown in these samples, there are a variety of scenarios, including many hi-tech or scientifically advanced examples.

So far, the authors and books described have been in chronological order, but around four years ago I discovered (and devoured) the books of Bruce Goldberg, whose books on futuristic subjects date much further back. Like Jenny Cockell, he also wrote a book entitled “Past Lives, Future Lives”, but dated 1982. Here he gives examples of future progressions he conducted, with some quite detailed pictures of the future. He too gives some examples of hi-tech living, and some clinical scientific types. He also portrays some more detached forms of human relationship, which I find unsettling – hopefully there is still variation and choice in that matter. An unusual feature of his work, is the connection between our future selves and our present selves, for which he gives graphic examples and exercises in his many books.

Future Life work then (in my narrative at least) leaps forward with the advent of Anne Jirsch’s book of 2007 entitled “The Future is Yours”. Anne Jirsch was a psychic who worked with past lives and then was suddenly brought into future life scenarios, in working with her group of friends. She then realized the creative potential of this work in many applications, and her book takes us through many exercises both relating to the future in this lifetime, and future lifetimes. I attended her workshop at the Festival of Mind-Body-Spirit in London in May (regular readers may remember) and was sufficiently impressed to put my name down for a future practitioner course.

In my own practice, given my interest in the subject for many years, future scenarios do come through from time to time, and are always very revealing, and empowering for the individual. Working with future lives is more malleable than working with past lives, and karmic considerations need to be catered for, but it can take us forward in unusual ways – out of the box, out of the comfort zone, and left field!

By the time you read this it will be old news, at the rate events are moving. A standout event of the last few days was the appearance of father and son Murdoch in front of the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee last Tuesday. Their body language was captured by media Psychologist Peter Collett in the Guardian. He analyzed Rupert Murdoch’s posture (intending to show he was fully involved), his pauses (showing a dominant individual) and his table-tapping “- a sure sign that he’s used to giving commands”. Apparently James Murdoch was a “model of courtesy”, making sure by eye contact that all committee members felt included. Peter Collett (author of “How to Read People’s Minds from their Actions”) concludes his article with a quip about the custard pie moment. I was musing myself whether there might be a call for an Emergency Biscuit.* Something else which is going on meanwhile in the world, and more difficult to identify astrologically, are babies (and adults) dying from famine, specifically highlighted in Somalia at this present time. Somalia currently has Uranus transiting its Ascendant, and squaring its Sun/Venus on the cusp of its 4th House which conjunction is opposed by transiting Pluto on its 10th House cusp (forming a difficult T-square composed of transiting and natal elements). The Somali Civil War, which began in 1991 and the consequences of which are being felt to this day, occurred with Saturn opposite Somalia’s Mercury in 4th House, and Neptune on its Saturn in 10th House. Out of Somalia came one Rageh Omaar, born in 1967, the son of a wealthy businessman. He has the North Node in Taurus – the karmic mission to be an anchor or rock. We do not know his Ascendant, but Jupiter is currently trine Venus, the ruler of his North Node, and perhaps helping to expand his karmic mission. In his past lives he would have been accustomed to danger as a warrior with South Node in Scorpio conjunct Mars in Libra (perhaps as a go-between). His present karmic mission seems to be to translate Islam for us through the 3-part television series “Mohammed”, beautifully shown by transiting Neptune (spiritual aspect) trine his natal Mars and this year also to trine the South Node, and sextile the North Node. Transiting Saturn sextile his Jupiter (religion) give him the stability at this time but also the sense of responsibility (in a television interview he was aware of the difficulties of his role). Who can forget his steady, spellbinding and reassuring presence reporting day after day during the Iraq War in 2003? He does have significant links with Iraq chartwise. At the time of that war, Neptune (Spiritual Protection) was exactly sextile his natal Saturn (Responsibility), enabling him to endure this mission. He says of his time there “We ran around, we did pieces on weapons inspectors, Saddam, the regime, and almost nothing about Iraqi people.” I always saw him as a hero, and I am sure many others did. If you have missed the first two parts of his current programme, you can see the third and final part on Tuesday 26th July at 9 p.m. on BBC2. We have another week now where the aspects begin in the middle of the week. Take note of how that was for you last week. Fixed star focus for the week is the Praesape Cluster (M44) in Cancer which has a short description in “Starlight Elixirs” by Michael Smulkis and Fred Rubenfeld, so I might as well quote the whole paragraph: “The primary energy here is in assisting individuals to fully accept loss, to release it, and to understand the great gifts of what one does not need any longer. This is a way of surrender and trust in the God-force. At a deeper level, most people will discover that a sense of what is needed created in them, as well as a sense of what is not needed. Priorities can shift to spiritual levels, so the true God-nature of the priorities emerge.” On Wednesday (27th) after you have assessed your spiritual priorities the Sun in Leo trines Uranus in Aries, so this may give a boost to revolutionaries around the world, and any attempts you are making to revolutionize the areas in your life affected by this aspect. If you know your birthchart, you can take a look at which houses the two planets are currently occupying to see which areas of your life can take a shift together. On Thursday (28th) Venus enters Leo, boosting our Leo fire supply, and eagerness to party and to extract joy from our life’s experiences. A little later on the same day, Mercury leaves Leo and enters Virgo. There is a short, exactly 3-hour window, (in the UK it is between 2.59 pm and 5.59 p.m.) when Venus, the Sun and Mercury are all in Leo and you can make hay while the sun shines. When Mercury enters Virgo, you might feel the call of your paperwork or other tasks which need attention. Mentally, you would be more inclined to focus, and be more practical. But an aspect the next day (Friday 29th) will make it difficult to keep distractions at bay – this is an opposition to Mercury from Neptune. It could be a case that you have so much to do that life is complicated. You may have an imminent wedding to plan, for instance, which requires your energies at all sorts of different levels. You may have to call in the wedding planning Angels if so, to help you on the higher levels while you focus on the paperwork, such as paying the caterers. You may be lucky, in that all will come together the next day (Saturday 30th) as it is a New Moon and blue moon at 7 degrees Leo, and therefore good for weddings or other large-scale functions and activities, such as film directing (did I tell you a lot of Film Directors are born under Leo? I have? Oh sorry, it is one of my fave astro-facts…). Now, blogging about Astrology takes up a bit of my time, and although Past Life therapy is a good proportion of my work it rarely gets a look-in comparatively in my blog. Which is why I am grateful to fellow Astroblogger Joyce Mason, who has written a lip-smacking article on her Radical Virgo blog entitled “The Great Flow Charters in the Sky”. It’s all about how she recognized the hand of reincarnation working throughout her life. Here’s the link to a great read http://www.radicalvirgo.com/2011/07/great-flow-charters-in-sky.html if you are thirsty to know more about Past Lives. Have a good week, and enjoy the wedding season, or home-entertainment-for-schoolkids-season, whichever applies!

*Soon to be patented, perhaps, by Apprentice winner Tom Pellereau

The week in bullet points:

Wednesday – Spiritual priorities and Religious ruminations

Thursday – Spirited enthusiasm

[Fun window: 2.59 pm to 5.59 pm, UK time]

Knuckle down to paperwork

Friday – Mental confusion and complexity

Saturday – New ventures centred around enjoyment and leisure

The opportunity to vote for or against the Alternative Vote is coming up on Thursday, a consequence of the Coalition. The Coalition itself was a consequence of the hung parliament which arose as a result of last year’s election. The hung parliament was an expression of the deadlock of the t-square between Saturn, Uranus and Pluto, the aim of which was to dismantle social institutions which weren’t working, in this case the traditional voting system (the aim of the T-square was not to dismantle social institutions which were working, such as the NHS, as David Cameron seems to have interpreted it…!). So the coalition was formed, from a tight electoral result: Nick Clegg, leader of the Lib Dems, chose to ally with the Conservatives. Karmically, he and David Cameron had more in common and were born weeks apart, sharing the placement of the outer planets. There had been an option of allying with Labour, but there was no natural harmony with Gordon Brown, and Gordon Brown was clearly the last stand of the New Labour movement. The tight result of the election, and the resulting Coalition, was the fitting expression for the astrological aspects. I have not blogged about this since then, but believe now that David Cameron has not played fair, and indeed has taken advantage of Nick Clegg’s Capricornian Scapegoat Archetype. The Coalition itself may be a pre-birth Contract between the two. David Cameron, who has lately taken to flaunting his class, is not only a Libran, capable of balancing forces and people, but he’s a Super-Libran! He is not an easy-going Libran – he’s a powerful double Libra with the Sun in Libra rising with his ruler Venus in the first house of his birthchart. He is a therefore a power-wielding Libran, having the strength for his role as P.M. He is given extra assistance by Jupiter on the cusp of his 11th House of Friendships and Groups, sextile his Ascendant, and the effect is a living example of “How to Win Friends and Influence People”. His Saturn (entrenchment of Institution) opposes Nick Clegg’s natal Uranus (desire for reform). This vote regarding the alternative system is a historic opportunity. Many people seem undecided about it, even cagey about their voting intentions. I am going to vote in favour (this is not an impartial blog) as I am tired of election after election voting for either Lib Dem or Green Party, and having nothing to show for it, always living in the heartland of one or other of the two main parties. I’m with Eddie Izzard (said to be the youth vote) on this! A Yes vote may help balance the karma of this Coalition as the referendum is the one concession the Conservatives have granted the Lib Dems.

For 21 years, I have combined Past Life Therapy and Astrology. I realize there is more I don’t know about karma than I do! But working in both mediums enables me to get past conjecture. In some cases, too, I have the privilege of seeing karma working out or dissolving.

A word about Karma: It is time to view the subject with less terror than viewed in other centuries and cultures. It is an automatic system of justice, and we all love justice.

We can work to mitigate it, first, by not incurring more, i.e. through non-violence and harmlessness, but also by being proactive, authentic and not allowing ourselves victimhood.

I picked up my first book on Astrology in 1970, before modern psychological astrology had taken hold and before computerized research was possible. Many of the books at the time were still very fatalistic in their approach. Back then, the interpretation of the North Node was where “the Lord giveth” and the fear-inducing South Node where “the Lord taketh away.” I did not find this very appealing, and left the Nodes out of the equation until 20 years later when I came upon the Karmic Astrology of Martin Schulman, and the revelatory interpretations of regression therapist Judy Hall. Here were approaches I could work with. My view now is that the Nodal Axis is a continuum, and while some sources indicate abandoning the past-life habits of the South Node, I see the axis as a path to wholeness.

I am offering here 12 possible Archetypal South Node portraits or vignettes, built up from different sources and partly from the experiences of clients but told in such a way as to avoid revealing their intensely personal stories. There is nothing subtle about the following vignettes. Indeed they are often one-dimensional, so you may or may not resonate with them, but at least may find them thought-provoking. They may reconnect you with your South Node, if you are at the second stage of your journey, for many people cut off their South Node mode of being when they step towards their North Node karmic mission at a specific point in early adulthood. They may not be able to carry the South Node ways of being, and it is simpler to drop them. Some consciously dismantle their South Node Archetype, or feel it would hold them back. Not everyone is destined in this lifetime to attempt the third stage, which is to combine the North and South Node in wholeness. The journey starts with the South Node (Stage 1), and babies display the characteristics of the South Node more purely, before their karmic path has started. We can scoop up our past-life talents (Stage 1) and draw upon them as we venture forth to perfect the qualities of our North Node (Stage 2) and bring the two ends of the axis together (Stage 3).

Developing the North Node and planets located near the North Node are subjects for future writing.

How to Read the Portraits for Personal Application

If you have a planet conjunct your South Node find that, e.g Mars conjunct South Node under Aries.

If you do not have a planet conjunct your South Node, read the sign of your South Node.

If you have a planet square to your Nodal Axis, you will find a description under the sign ruled by that planet.

If you do not know your South Node sign read your Sun sign, i.e. read South Node in Aries if you are Sun sign Aries.

South Node in Aries

Mars conjunct South Node

Archetype: The Warrior

Place: England

Time: A.D. 61

I am Bodicea and it has fallen to me to stand up for my tribe. I have to protect and defend my people and when the invaders are in the way I have to assert our rights and deal with them. I live in the moment – it’s the only way to get things done! None of this past-life nonsense for me.

The past life gift I bring with me is to be my authentic self.

Mars square to the Nodes: This signifies the need to integrate the warrior aspect harmoniously into life.

North Node in Libra: The karmic mission is to promote peace, to harmonize with another in close relationship, marriage or business partnership.

Integrated Nodal Axis of Aries and Libra: This entails knowing when to assert yourself, when to be peaceful, when to be selfish and when to yield.

South Node in Taurus

Venus conjunct South Node

Archetype: The Artist

Place: Lemuria

Time: 60,000 BC

I am Croar and I live close to the earth and nature and am inspired by its beauty. I reflect that love by creating pots and tools, making them as fine as I can using the natural materials around me. I love my family and our animals but my connection with the Earth is stronger than anything. I’m a troglodyte, engraving petroglyphs, and dodging pterodactyls!

The gift I bring with me from my past life is an appreciation of the beauty in nature, and an ability to express this through art forms.

Venus square to the Nodes in Fixed or Mutable Signs: This creates a greater challenge to express relationship and Art in a wider way which takes into account the needs of a group.

North Node in Scorpio: My karmic mission is to face the transformative nature of life, including my own fears, and to search for the hero within.

Integrated Nodal Axis of Taurus and Scorpio: Balance between the material and non-material worlds and to understand when it is time for new beginnings, when forms in life are to be sustained and supported, and to know when the time is right for endings.

South Node in Gemini

Mercury conjunct South Node

Archetype: The Teacher

Place: America

Time: 1920s

I am a born teacher. My name is Carina and I live in Chicago in 1920s. I am stimulated by all the exchange of views going on here, and the inspiring architecture. My friends discuss the evolutionary theory of Darwin and the new science of Psychology as developed by Sigmund Freud. Very interesting in theory, but I wouldn’t actually want to go to see an Analyst! I love knowledge, and I love my subject, and that’s what motivates me.

The gift I bring with from this past life is the ability to focus the mind and the mental agility to communicate my knowledge to people.

Mercury square to the Nodes in Mutable Signs: The drive to communicate can sometimes be taken to extremes or be inappropriate, or result in losing sight of other more instinctual needs.

North Node in Sagittarius: My karmic mission is to widen my area of consciousness and to explore mentally, if not also physically.

Integrated Nodal Axis of Gemini and Sagittarius: To master the principle of communication and understand at what point in the continuum information needs to be placed.

South Node in Cancer

Moon conjunct the South Node

Archetype: The Parent

Country: Africa

Time: 1875 A.D.

My name is Ndola. I live in a roundhouse, as part of a community and tribe. I am an elder, right now devoted to my grandson, the newest member of our tribe! I am happy as long as the milk is flowing for our babies. Mother Earth sustains us, and we collectively honour her, in ritual and ceremony. We also use her special plants and herbs for our healing. Whenever I hear our drumbeats, I attune to her rhythms. Our tribe lives and moves as one, trance dancing to the patterns of the bright star Sirius.

The gift I bring with me from my past life is the ability to bring my tribe together.

Moon square to the Nodes: A need to build constructively the power of nurturing in your life.

North Node in Capricorn: To understand the need for structures in society, which can serve the needs and emotions of the people.

Integrated Nodal Axis of Cancer and Capricorn: To balance responsibility and nurturing in a supportive lifestyle for yourself and your loved ones.

South Node in Leo

Sun conjunct South Node

Archetype: Royalty

Place: Egypt

Time: 44 BC

My name is Cleopatra and I am Queen of Egypt. Don’t you believe me? I know, you’ve heard it all before. Everybody wants to be me or thinks they are me! But I am really the Queen. Can you not tell I have the taste, and the breeding? I want to express myself and be creative and joyful, and in order to do that I need to be in control of my world and all the subjects in it. My Soul Group is working on divine rights (or diva rights). My leading man Mark Anthony and I, we’ve have had our ups and downs, but you’d expect a little drama in the life of a Queen.

The gift I can bring to my current life is a sense of self-worth (if I can allow it in), keeping the crown jewels of nobility, integrity and self-esteem.

Sun square to the Nodes: May bring the urge to challenge power in others or in society. Need to foster positive models of power.

North Node in Aquarius: Working towards ways of being in groups without dominating but in an empowered way.

Integrated Nodal Axis of Leo and Aquarius: Ability to stand in own individuality and in a group and contribute in a positive way without overpowering others.

South Node in Virgo

Mercury conjunct South Node

Chiron conjunct South Node (Healing skills developed in past lives)

Archetype: The Craftsperson

Place: Switzerland

Time: 1850

My name is Hans and I am a specialist precision watchmaker in Zermatt. People don’t try to take the trouble to do a fine job anymore, but here I uphold that tradition and hope it continues in generations to come. I do not presume to understand the world, but I know my place in it. I start with a spotless environment–you won’t find any dust in my watches!

The gift I bring with me to this life is the ability to apply myself in my work and attend to detail. My nervous system remembers the patterns of coordination I used in the past.
Mercury square the Nodal Axis - A need to be more sensitive and alive to varying demands in teaching roles.

Chiron square the Nodal Axis – Very individualistic. Can find unusual solutions to problems.

North Node in Pisces: Subtle ways of being, and of giving service. Perfecting the spiritual path.

Integration of Nodal Axis of Virgo and Pisces: The ability to give service, in the community and in the world.

South Node in Libra

Venus conjunct South Node

Archetype: The Diplomat
Place: Ancient Greece
Time: 421 BC

My name is Demis. I live in Corinth and try to smooth relations between Athens and Sparta. I can see both their qualities and greatness and feel that I can bring them together. There are plenty of people practising the art of war, but not enough cultivating the art of peace. I love justice, too, having been educated in philosophy and law and hope one day that all people will accept the balance it brings. I am proud, too, of the artistic achievements of my country, which I think are outstanding. For beauty is truth and truth beauty, as you can see on this urn that I have before me. Maybe one day a poet will capture that essence.

The gift I bring with me to this life is the ability to bring people together by emphasizing their similarities, and creating harmony. Deep in my heart, I desire peace.
Venus square the Nodal Axis in Cardinal or Mutable signs The path of true love does not always run smoothly. Dedicated to working out karmic relationships and to working problems out peacefully.

North Node in Aries: To develop individuality without fear or guilt. To learn self-assertion.

Integrated Nodal Axis of Aries and Libra: This entails knowing when to assert yourself, when to be peaceful, when to be selfish and when to yield.

South Node in Scorpio

Pluto conjunct South Node

Archetype: The Seafarer

Place: Scandinavia

Time: 1002 A.D.

My name is Erik and I am a Viking. I have a lot of emotional drive and energy. Weaving through our local waters, I just have to look into the fjords to regenerate myself. I couldn’t live my life cut off from that source like some lands we have visited. I like a challenge and don’t necessarily do things the easy way. The force of the Norse gods is with me!

The gift I bring with me from this past life is to be unafraid of deep water, whether in nature or in one’s own psyche.

Pluto square to the Nodes: To see the challenges of life and society and not to shy away from them. A bit of a revolutionary.

North Node in Taurus: Working towards a more creative and constructive lifestyle or spiritual path.

Integrated Nodal Axis of Taurus and Scorpio: Balance between the material and non-material worlds and to understand when it is time for new beginnings, when forms in life are to be sustained and supported, and to know when the time is right for endings.

South Node in Sagittarius

Jupiter conjunct South Node

Archetype: The Explorer

Place: South America

Time: 1836 A.D.

I am Rodriguez and I am an explorer. I have been everywhere, searching for…something. Last year I came across an ancient temple, pyramid-like, resembling something from Babylon. Hidden away behind thickets it was. I’m a Christian but I’ve always been fascinated by the sacred, where man communes with God or the gods. Anyway, you’ll never believe it (why am I telling you this?) but I ran. I ran right away because I couldn’t handle the responsibility! It’s the thrill of the chase, for me, with temples.

The gift I bring with me from this past life is open-mindedness, especially towards other religions.

Jupiter square to the Nodes: May have the Explorer Archetype in past lives, and may need to balance your restlessness in this lifetime. There may also be residual religious guilt to release.

North Node in Gemini: The need to focus the mind and develop the Inner Teacher

Integrated Nodal Axis of Gemini and Sagittarius: To master the principle of communication and understand at what point in the continuum information needs to be placed.

South Node in Capricorn

Saturn conjunct South Node

Archetype: The Politician

Place: Russia

Time: 1905

My name is Piotr, and I whisper in the corridors of power. But even the whispering has rules. You speak only when you are spoken to by someone above your rank. You only speak that which is necessary and the bare minimum and for a serious purpose. Every word is weighed carefully. And information is classified, on a need-to-know basis. Sssh! I cannot tell you anything at the moment. Sometimes you’d think this was an old Trappist monastery.

The gift I bring with me from this past life is discipline, the ability to be measured and work quietly towards my goal.

Saturn square the Nodal Axis: Being so focused and goal-orientated, there’s a need to remember to keep the heart open.

North Node in Cancer: Family values and parenting nurtured and the strong sense of the tribe and its needs.

Integrated Nodal Axis for Cancer and Capricorn: To balance responsibility and nurturing in a supportive lifestyle for yourself and your loved ones.

South Node in Aquarius

Uranus conjunct South Node

  Archetype: The Technician

Place: Atlantis

Time: 50,000 B.C.

My name is Barbarella. I live in Poseidia, and I am androgynous, but that might change in the future. I use lasers and crystals in my work, and my group is helping to develop a large crystal we call “the Collider”, which has great potential. Tremendous intelligence is networked within the group, and I’m excited by all the new developments. I certainly know the work we do is powerful… sometimes I do wonder about the consequences, but brush any such thoughts aside. It’ll be fine. I’ll just press this button and….

The gift I have brought into my current life from Atlantis is future vision and a love of progress and technological advancement. I have the capacity for dispassionate scientific thought.
Uranus square the Nodal Axis: Indicates the need to apply knowledge and inner knowing ethically and safely on behalf of groups and society. There is a desire to shake up the existing order.

North Node in Leo: The need to develop a stronger relationship with one’s own power, the integration of the personality, and to strengthen self-esteem.

Integration of the Nodal Axis for Leo and Aquarius: Ability to stand in one’s own individuality and in a group and contribute in a positive way without overpowering others.

South Node in Pisces

Neptune conjunct the South Node

Archetype: The Mystic

Place: Polynesian islands

Time: 1200 A.D.

My name is Enui, and I come from Rapa Nui (Easter Island). Well part of me lives here, but I come from other places, too. We have a mystical consciousness, moving and shape-shifting in and out of different dimensions. As a fishing race, sea creatures are sacred to us, especially the Turtle. I have seven parallel lives, including one on the Pleiades. I can see you find that hard to believe. Why limit your consciousness?

The gift I have brought forward into my life is multidimensional consciousness, a way of being which is still in the memory banks for access.

Neptune square to the Nodes: Confusing to yourself and others, but at the same time challenging them to open their minds, confusion being part of the transition state.

North Node in Virgo: The karmic mission is to hone your skills, be aware of detail, moving away from scattered thinking and action.

Integration of Nodal Axis for Virgo and Pisces: The ability to give service, in the community and in the world.

There is an emphasis on the constellation Orion this week, and particularly today. Earth civilization has had a close relationship with Orion, and it is one of the most identifiable constellations in the sky. Spiritually, there are both positive and negative forces involved with Orion, and therefore it is a good week to be aware of negative forces, and how they come into your life, and what part your own shadow plays. But also then to balance that and take advantage of the higher spiritual energies available. Today the Sun is aligned with the other two stars from Orion’s belt (continuing along from last week) and they are Alnitak and Alnilam. Alnitak is the left hand star of Orion’s belt, and our Sun’s current alignment with that star can increase telepathy*. Alnilam enables us to work with the issue responsibility, an issue that we all have a relationship with in past lifetimes if not in this lifetime. Mintaka, another star from Orion, also features today, and this star teaches about balancing aggression. And the Great Orion Nebula (M42) draws threads of your life together today: “Meditating on this nebula or using the elixir will increase one’s ability to incorporate change and to extract from various thought forms, even negative thought forms, certain aspects that one may find valuable and useful.” If experiences from the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction last week have left a lot to digest, you can combine them or take an overview, with the help of this star. Some people work well with crystals in connection with Orion. Tomorrow Venus enters Leo, and a domestic vibe from the Venus sojourn through Cancer, gives way to a more showy mood, more expression, life and colour coming into our lives. Some of us have been reluctant to get out their summer colours, wardrobe-wise, and this will be enough to bring them out. Later in the day Venus trines Uranus, and a socializing, party mood takes over, and inhibitions are thrown off. A real buck’s fizz moment. The party season continues on Tuesday (15th) with Venus trine Jupiter, and the vibration graduates to celebration, not just any old party but something really special and meaningful in your life. A romantic high is possible, too, for those who are seeking. It is one of those days when everyone’s a winner (except in the World Cup), for Mars trines Pluto too. The aggressive side of Orion can be balanced, and channelled constructively. Footballers can give it their all, and the outcome may be a stalemate but it will have been a good competition. There is an alignment with the star Alhecka in Taurus that day, which favours self-forgiveness. The Venus-Jupiter trine brings social harmony, and the Mars-Pluto trine brings psychic harmony and balancing, and expressive forces in co-operation. On Thursday (17th) another Orion star is highlighted, Saiph, and your perception of time may be altered. Friday 18th brings an alignment with the Pole Star, Polaris, so you may feel you are aligning in some way with your life path. The approach and books of Martha Beck “Steering by Starlight” and “Finding your North Star” may be relevant to you at this time. Do take stock of your alignment, physical, mental and emotional, on that day, for the next day (Saturday 19th) brings a square between Sun and Saturn, and that may bring another cycle or re-alignment which is started by some awkwardness or dislocation. Balance is always temporary until the next learning. Another connection with another star in Orion also takes place on Saturday, and that is with the well-known star Betelgeuse (“Beetlejuice”). Sun square Saturn can bring up our fears to be looked at, and Betelgeuse can play a part in healing: “Fears are lessened and insight into the source of the fear is strengthened. An awareness of the purpose of such fears in one’s own life path is enhanced” says the book “Starlight Elixirs”. Often, especially when we look into the hidden past-life fears we have, the source of fear is not what we thought it was.

Time travel is a regular feature of my work as a past-life therapist, but I couldn’t help being fascinated by the metamorphosis from one Dr Who to another. I have been fascinated ever since I incidentally saw David Tennant transform into Matt Smith at 9 pm on New Year’s Day…David Tennant at that moment had the North Node on his Moon/Mars and so fate decreed that he relinquish his title. Matt Smith was of course destined to succeed with Pluto the planet of transformation opposite David Tennant’s Sun. So when Matt (he of the Scorpio deep-sunken eyes) began his mission on our screens at 6.20 pm last night Saturn (the Lord of Time) was exactly on the Ascendant trine the Part of Fortune on the cusp of the 9th House (the Joys of Time Travel)…It is a week of metamorphoses, with major movements from some of the heavier heavenly bodies. First of all, Chiron changed signs over Easter, from Aquarius to Pisces. What was Chiron through Aquarius all about? Chiron entered Aquarius in 2005 which laid out new patterns of working in groups to achieve healing. What will Chiron in Pisces be about? It is about working in a deeper way to achieve healing, rippling out from the group consciousness and taking the explorations to a deeper level. Often healing is achieved on one level, then the experience returns to be healed at a deeper experience. On an individual level, there will be an examination of the issue of selfishness vs selfishness because Chiron in Pisces is about giving oneself; how much one is prepared to give, how much one needs to give, and whether that is healthy. If you were reading last week, you may be wondering how Venus is doing. We last left her dallying with the gardener in Taurus, and promised to catch up. She is in a respectful trine with Pluto tomorrow (Monday 5th) when balance can be achieved on a deeper level in relationship. Metamorphosis and transformation come up again, specifically in relationships. An hour later Mercury squares Mars, so the relationship shifts trigger an effort to understand by the rational mind, and in the frustration, hasty words could ensue. Geminis and Ariens may need to process before they react, and listen to the understanding of Pisceans and Scorpios. By the end of the day, most signs will have a fuller picture to draw upon. On Tuesday 6th the mental understanding catches up with the emotional understanding, with Mercury trine Pluto, and may even be in a position to write a thesis or dissertation on the subject. “Eureka!” will say the Gemini scientist. A metaphorical light bulb will shine on some scientific mysteries. Having beamed its searchlight up to 5 degrees of Capricorn, the next day (Wednesday 7th) Pluto turns retrograde, and it may be a good time to survey the themes of Pluto in Capricorn in your life. What has Pluto in Capricorn been about? Pluto entered Capricorn in January 2008, and now is the time to do your review. The area of your life in which the transit of Pluto falls has given you a chance to really understand, and test out your understanding in a particular area of your life, and now it’s revision time. Going over old ground can seem like a chore, but if you want a second chance, it is a good opportunity. Time travelling, and reframing earlier decisions and contracts, and changing old patterns of perception, will benefit from this retrograde phase of Pluto. Later the same day Saturn, having toured Libra to the 4th degree and squared Pluto, now re-enters Virgo in its retrograde motion. What has Saturn in Libra been about for you? Again, it may be a good time to survey the themes of Saturn in Libra in your life, and its karmic dilemmas in relationships. Saturn entered Libra in late October 2009, and you may have noticed understandings and traditional models of relationship being tested by the square to Pluto and the loose opposition to Saturn from Uranus. These are long-term processes and part of the Cardinal T-square we are working with over the next two years. The first step is understanding the problem, and that is the phase we are now in. With Saturn now turning retrograde, we look to the past to see what was wrong with the old models and why they don’t stand up. In this lifetime, outside forces such as economics may have shaped a relationship. In a past lifetime there may have been pressures from the karmic group. If you are searching for more authentic relationships, a little time travel wouldn’t go amiss here.

“Ahinsa. Non-injury, or harmlessness. The chief social virtue in yoga philosophy.”

~ Ernest Wood

Saturn, one of the Lords of Karma, enters Libra the sign of Peace and Harmony on 29 October, and raises a new set of issues for us collectively, a new focus. The purpose of Saturn is to highlight our blocks, so that we can work on liberating ourselves from them. Can Libra glide along on niceness alone? Does that work karmically? Librans are lovely, but Saturn may require them to change, or become more of who they truly are. This goes for any of us, to the extent that we have the features of Libra in our birth chart.

For those of us brought up at school with Mrs. Doasyouwouldbedoneby, a character from “The Water Babies” by Charles Kingsley, then in the hippy era graduated to the concept of “Ahimsa” or harmlessness when we embraced Hinduism along with the Beatles, you may be focussing on the challenge of how to live out these concepts during the forthcoming period of Saturn in Libra. Some of you will have been born during earlier transits of Saturn in Libra such as mid-August 1951 to late October 1953, with a further intensity for some of having the Saturn-Neptune conjunction. Judy Hall identifies this conjunction as a karmic dilemma and labels it as the Mystic/Pragmatist. In a later generation those born from late September 1980 to late November 1982 also had Saturn in Libra, some of whom took on the conjunction of Saturn/Pluto, which adds truth and psychological depth to the sense of responsibility. Those of you who have Saturn in Libra natally may have experienced growth through the bonds of relationship, e.g. taken on a challenging partner, and some may have renounced conventional relationship if it was too constricting. One who found life-long-lasting love was the late Patrick Swayze, and his autobiography (co-written with his wife) is out now.

Libra as the sign of peace can when occupied by Saturn bring passivity to the character, relationship or situation. The struggle which some Librans have with decision-making can apply to philosophies about taking right action, and karma. There can be, for instance, a fear of hurting others. In order to take action, it sometimes needs a combination with a stronger influence, as in the case of oft-cited double Libran Mahatma Gandhi who had the extra spiritual strength and courage of Scorpio planets in his first house. Another oft-astrologically-cited Libran is John Lennon whose Sun in Libra came with a little help from Mars in Libra, Aries rising (energy, or sometimes aggression) and Moon in Aquarius (inclination to social activism) – all of which resulted in his ultimate gesture of the bed-in on behalf of peace.

Non-violent communication (as promoted in the work and books by Marshall Rosenberg and Kelly Bryson) was a concept I only came across when I joined i-peace a year ago. The subtitle of Kelly Bryson’s book is “balancing passion for self with compassion for others”. It would seem logical that communication has its own consequences and karma, and refining this is as important as any other kind of karma, and may head off more concrete conflict. And sometimes the person you need to stop hurting is yourself. Be mindful of what you say to yourself.

Issues around bullying, selfishness vs selflessness, self-esteem and self-assertion will be relevant during this time. We may find that we need a dose of Libra’s opposite Aries in order to balance out extreme capitulation in a relationship. How are parents to advise, support and protect children who are being bullied in the outside world? Can or should their parenting be completely free of rules, restrictions and imposing their own values on the child? Can the soul of a child escape endoctrination? What would be the consequences of natural parenting as espoused by Rousseau? I have recently been accused of asking too many questions…

Internationally, there is bullying going on, and peace will become a more insistent need for humanity as a whole during Saturn in Libra, possibly because of the existence of the nuclear capacity within nations who may have tenuous diplomatic links with leading “parental” nations. But there may be other factors that emerge and make this even more of a necessity. Such proceedings during Saturn in Libra need the utmost patience from diplomats, and the strength and resolve to keep going. Let us hope that we see some progress from the Nobel hopeful candidates by next year. Libra in Saturn represents the sense of responsibiltiy and the seriousness of their task. It is an idealistic sign, but Saturn brings more practicality and need for compromise. There is also the delicate balancing going on with Uranus and Pluto demanding their share in a T-square with Saturn. The collective task for Saturn in Virgo was to work together on climate change, so it is interesting that in these last days of Saturn’s sojourn there we have the question over how far the U.S. will reduce carbon emissions, and protests in the U.K. over this issue. The Chinese seem to be making more headway than the west, and the Maldives cabinet met under water this week.

For those Librans with worrying furrowing brows, before you think about botox rest assured that in relationships Saturn can bring commitment, maturity and solidity. Be your own best friend, know yourself, and know your relationship. Your own relationship with yourself is reflected in every other relationship you have. If you have Saturn in Libra in your natal chart you will be about to experience your Saturn Return (within the next two or three years). The blog Astro Harmonia has been a caring resource during my Saturn Return in Virgo and hopes to be able to help the Saturn-Librans.

If it’s fun you want hang around a Virgo now; they will be popping corks and they have a wealth of wisdom gained by the transit of Saturn through their sign.

The recent TV series has revived an interest in the fascinating group of artists known as the Pre-Raphaelites. The accompanying biography by Franny Moyle, published by John Murray, and entitled “Desperate Romantics” is as gratifyingly profound as the TV series was superficial (though very watchable). The book is in fact an Astrologer’s dream, giving dates and times of day for such detail as an annulment, a railway train caught, and episodes of paranoia. You could happily spend a whole day printing out such charts. If the Moon’s Nodes are the key to karmic entanglements, then the astrological evidence corroborates the picture of a huge set of triangular relationships within the group (at the last count 8), and that includes triangles of brotherhood as well as menages a trois. I am hoping to blog about the more individual charts within the group, but for now would like to point out the role of the Nodes in securing the karmic entanglement of some of the key figures which make up their story. The lynch pin of the whole movement is Dante Gabriel Rossetti, painter and poet, who initially formed the brotherhood together with close friends John Everett Millais and William Holman Hunt. Hunt’s Pluto conjunct Millais South Node indicates a profound past-life link, and his North Node trine Rossetti’s Saturn showing a soul contract. But their success and role in society also depended on the life of the critic and patron John Ruskin, whose own life story and psychology are sensitively explored in the book. Within just these few central characters there are two triangles, which interlink. There is the brotherhood formed by the the three painters Rossetti, Hunt and Millais, and there is a love triangle formed by Ruskin, Millais and Effie Gray. Effie was locked in a difficult marriage for several years with Ruskin, and their natal nodal axes are reversed. Dante Gabriel Rossetti (reliant for many years on Ruskin’s patronage) and Effie were born within 5 days of each other in the same year, and therefore Dante’s own nodal axis was also reversed with Ruskin’s. This is the karmic kernel of the wider circle of triangles which notably included Rossetti’s link with William Morris and his wife Jane Burden. The nature of these nodes may give a clue as to the wider purpose of the group incarnation, the most obvious reason being to promote a renaissance of the romantic philosophy, art and poetry. Although Rossetti alludes to reincarnation in his poetry, I have never read of any concrete statements about his beliefs along those lines. Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s North Node stands at 24 degrees 45 minutes Libra, Effie Gray’s at 24 degrees 59 minutes Libra, and Ruskin’s 23 degrees 46 minutes Aries (within a degree of opposition to Rossetti’s). John Ruskin’s North Node in Aries (development of the individuality) is in his 3rd House, pointing to his career as a critic, and squaring his Mercury/Mars conjunction which again speaks of critique. His patronage of the Pre-Raphaelites may be shown by his Venus in 11th House. Rossetti’s North Node in Libra, one of the signs associated with the Arts, lies at the end of his 5th House of Creativity, reflective of his lifetime’s endeavours and achievements, both personal and in relationship to the group he founded. Effie’s North Node is also in Libra, and she was an artist’s model, while also on a mission to fulfil herself through relationship or marriage (first to Ruskin, and then to Millais). We do not have her birth time and therefore do not know within which house her North Node expressed itself. Birth dates are available for most of the principal characters, and birth times are available for some. Sadly there are no birth dates available for some of the artists’ models, such as Annie Miller and Fanny Cornforth. However, Franny Moyle’s book yields a wealth of possibility for both astrological study and the study of interrelationship.

With the lunar eclipse in Aquarius last week, personal issues seemed to involve membership and leadership of groups. It is a core issue in relation to who we are. Some of the problems which came up were:

For those involved as members in a group, the issue may have been how to hold on to one’s individuality (Sun in Leo opposing the Moon) in a group, and how far one might be expected by the group or society to conform or compromise. The journalist Julie Burchell (Venus in Leo opposing Chiron in Aquarius) just would not.

For those who may feel a stranger within their own family, seeing themselves as a black sheep perhaps, where does the problem originate (sometimes in past lives), and the solution lie? How far can the group or family accommodate the stranger in their midst? How expanded is their repertoire of spiritual awareness? The emotional field of the family is usually dominated by the mother and depends on her capacity for love, wisdom and attunement.

One of the features of New Age consciousness in groups is heart-centred female leadership, the holding of the group in a safe sapace which serves the needs of the weakest as well as the strongest of its members.

This may not have been what Harriet Harman (Mercury in Leo opposing Moon in Aquarius) in her role within the Labour Party had in mind when she was moved to put in a plea for more women in the top posts of government. For at this point in time politicians are not known for their desire to combine their skills in practicality and expediency with the spiritual component of their nature. But hopefully, this is what the human race is evolving towards.

If you are interested in colour healing, the olive over olive bottle in the Aura- Soma range of colour healing bottles represents feminine leadership.

Olive lies on the cusp of Leo (yellow) and Virgo (green), blending the leader and the follower. If your birthday is on this cusp, your soul resonates to this colour on an earth level, or lime green on a more spiritual and aspirational level. You have within you the leader and the follower, and may have an innate talent for feminine-style leadership.

The group sign of Aquarius is ruled by two colours, electric blue (representing the electricity, telepathy and interconnection of the group) and magenta, representing the organizational capacity of the leader. Turquoise is a great leveller in communication, and can unite the dual purposes of the individual, represented by Leo, and Aquarius representing the group interest. It can bring together the interests of individual members with the group purpose, while not violating the individual expression, needs and being.

The light generated in meditation groups can lift and evolve individual members of the group on a level where differences do not matter, beyond ego and personality. But many of the groups we need to work with on the earth plane are not spiritually centred and also involve personality differences and karmic outworking.

In conclusion, I feel we need more teaching on feminine leadership in groups, we need men to stay in touch with their inner female, we need politicians to meditate more, and if you are still working through the after-effects of the August eclipse, then breathe in the unifying colour of turquoise.
